Hey Everybody! we are asking for your help. We are currently in production for “The Internet” and we need all the help we can get! One of the easiest ways to help is by donating to our project through Kickstarter. Kickstarter is a program that works on pledges, you can pledge any amount, if we reach our pledge goal of $2000 then we get the money, if we dont reach our goal then we get nothing and you are charged nothing. So please donate what you can!

Here is a show description:

THE INTERNET will premiere at the Incubator Arts Project (http://www.incubatorarts.org/) in New York on August 12-22nd. This is the first show we have created where video and dance take on lead roles in development in an attempt to stage the world-wide-web, fusing dance, movement, video , music, original and found texts. Along with a large cast comprised of 20 dancers and 6 actors, ETG will examine what lies beneath the cool, sleek, surface of the information super highway by asking what propels us into the shadowy underworld of the world wide web where we desire to objectify bodies and see people fail. We will aim to find the root of human connection at its newest form by incorporating vibrant visuals and an auditory circus comprised of musically staged interpretations of various websites and electronic transactions/interactions. Our goal is to fully immerse the audience in a completely sensory world where playful and horrifying explosions of light, color, sound, and movement engages like dancing, flickering websites come to life while navigating through the blurry, teetering lines between romance, objectification, tenderness and uncensored cruelty.

What your pledge will be used for:

We have started casting the project as of June 7th, 2010 and and rehearsals have started as of June 12th, 2010.
Donated funds for this project will be used strictly to production costs that are normally paid out of pocket by ETG members (which usually makes us unable to eat for rehearsal period but it’s totally worth it) such as :

-Rehearsal space (Paying $10- $20 an hour in rental costs in NY + rehearsing 4 times a week in 3-5 hour increments = a lot of money)
- Various props
-Costumes to dress a large cast
-Snacks and water for our wonderful performers who donate time and energy to this project
- Script printing costs
-Ad space for various online mediums
-Set expenses ( we are purchasing fans, plastic covering, renting 3 projectors, etc)

and a lot more!

Even $1 will help us out immensely by helping us provide a bottle of water for a dehydrated cast member who has been dancing for 3 hours straight. But we need to reach our goal of $2000 to get any funding at all!

To Donate, click this link ( there is a video:)

And click back our project with a pledge for any amount that you choose.Rewards will be given as well as eternal gratitude and love.

ETG has officially started rehearsals for Big Girls Club ( The Formula Play) at HERE Arts Center and I wanted to take a moment to introduce to you three lovely ladies I’m super excited to be working with! We actually all met about a year and a half ago when we went through three days of really fun and intense auditions for the New York Neofuturists . Though simultaneously rejected, we definitely recommend auditioning or taking their workshop if you want to draw out some highly personal and unique material (their whole shtick is theater with no illusions) – and who knows? You might meet some awesome collaborators

In no particular order…here they are!

Within a few months of performing stand-up, Jen was brought to national attention as a finalist in NBC’s Stand-Up for Diversity. She has quickly established herself as one of the quirkiest young comedians working across genres, performing at such diverse venues as Gotham Comedy Club, Highline Ballroom, and The Bowery Poetry Club. Jen’s comedic exploits have also landed her on CNN and PBS, and in the pages of Rolling Stone Magazine and The New York Times. http://jenkwok.wordpress.com

Everywhere Theatre Group premiered Big Girls Club ( Happy Dance Dance Princess Show) at the Brick Theater summer 2009 prompting extreme reactions from audiences and critics alike. Matt Johnston of nytheatre.com said, “there have been numerous pieces of theatre, film, television, and literature that have embarked on a journey into the psychologically violent depths of the social impact of female body image on the lives of women and young girls. Big Girls Club (The Happy Happy Dance Princess Show), part of The Brick’s Antidepressant Festival this summer, is maybe the most direct and biting I have experienced”. The Formula Play is a second installment of the Big Girls Club series that attempts to form a cohesive narrative of the American Girl Story that only self-destructs. Taking into account the extreme reactions from the first installment, we focus on the tension between the conscious, formulaic female story, and the deeper ideas that lie underneath by exposing three women stuck in between familiar archetypes, subplots and redemption attempting to escape and kill each other along the way. There will be moments of gut-wrenching ugliness, pacified with uncomfortable pleasures and simple honesty- resulting in a deeply ambivalent and unnerving experience of theater.
